As part of Columbia University’s 2019 Year of Water, Morningside Lights returns with the theme Island, featuring 50+ community-built lanterns, each one a unique, personal reflection on idyllic solitude or urgent interdependency, rising tides or vanishing landscapes, utopias or dystopias, abundance or scarcity.
Join us on the evening of September 21 after dusk to witness the chain of glowing islands that sets forth through the darkness—a shared vision to remind us that, in the end, none of us is an island.
Be a part of creating the magic of Morningside Lights by joining us for a free lantern building workshop in the week leading up to the procession.
The public can learn more or sign up to create lanterns at morningside-lights.com.
