Join us for a thrilling look at the cutting edge of climate research! For the first in a series of Ask A Scientist events at Taking Action, meet Gisela Winckler of Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, the Co-Chief Scientist of a major international expedition to study 5 million years of climate data captured in layers of deep sea sediments. The ship just passed over the point in the Earth’s oceans farthest from land, Point Nemo. Dr. Winckler will livecast a tour of the expedition ship she leads, the JOIDES Resolution, and explain the basics of the scientific exploration she and her colleagues are carrying out. Dr. Winckler will also answer questions from the audience. Don’t miss this rare chance to look behind the scenes of the climate science discovery process!
